Parasites

Roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, whipworm and heartworms are among the internal parasites that can make a home inside your pet and deplete their vital nutrients. This can lead to loss of energy, poor apetite, anemia and even death. Kittens and puppies are especially susceptible. Infestations can be controlled and prevented and discovered through simple diagnostic procedures.

Fleas, ticks, mites or lice are examples of external parasites. To rid your pets of these unwelcomed guests it can be difficult, but a necessary step in maintaining a healthy pet and environment for yourself and your family. If you notice your pet scratching frequently or notice bald spots or red skin, chances are your pet is host to an external parasite and a trip to your vet is in order. It's also important to understand that even though you have rid your pet of the pests, you must also clear them from their environment -- ie: bedding, furniture and anything else your pet comes into contact with.
